Today marks Transfiguration Sunday, which the church traditionally celebrates on the Sunday before Lent begins. On our journey through Mark, it so happens that we’re in chapter 9 this morning to focus with the wider church on Jesus’ transformation in glory before three of his disciples. After delivering some really hard news–that he was going to suffer and die, and that his disciples would have to do the same–Jesus had promised that they would get to see that the kingdom really had come in power. And now as we look to Jesus, we believe he still unveils our eyes to see glory all around.
