Concluding our Build Each Other Up series, we talk today about being a community of people who help one another responsibly. We read and interpret together four passages that helped form the earliest Christian communities: Galatians 6.2-10, Ephesians 5.21, Philippians 2.1-4, and Galatians 5.13-15. In particular, we focus on Paul’s somewhat conflicting statements that we should bear each other’s burdens and that each of us should bear our own burdens. How do these two instructions harmonize into a picture of what compassionate and responsible community can look like? What can we learn about helping one another through everything we’re facing?
