Picking back up in our Philippians sermon series, we’re into chapter 2! Paul begins with a call to unity, extolling virtues like tenderness, compassion and humility. He ends with warnings against idleness, grumbling and complaining. And right in the middle, both of our text today (2.1-18) and our faith, he puts the example of Jesus in the famous “Christ Hymn.” Today we answer the question, What makes it possible to live the way of Jesus–in tenderness and mercy, free from vanity? What can give us the strength and courage to resist adopting the tactics of a crooked, contentious and hyper-critical generation?
