We’re going back to the earliest Christmas songs for our Advent series. Specifically, the songs and worship from the beginning of Luke’s Gospel. Today we learn to sing a song of revolution with Mary from Luke 1.46-55, commonly called the Magnificat. The advent of Jesus means the rich and powerful will be humbled, while the poor and hungry will be lifted up. But this revolution isn’t powered by retribution, but mercy. It is a revolution that brings peace.
