We continue to explore who we are as a community and what it means to truly be a member. From Matthew 9.18-38 we look at a quick succession of stories in which Jesus heals people, concluding with a prayer that more workers would be sent out to keep the work going. One of the remarkable features of these stories is that Jesus gives people roles in their own healing and even in the healing of others. They get to participate actively. In fact, even though Jesus is the one who heals them, he actually shares credit with them for their healing. What might we learn from these stories about being participants in our healing?
