Continuing in our series The Stories We Tell Ourselves today we look at the one miracle story that appears in all four Gospels: The feeding of the 5,000. What is it about this story that made all four Gospel writers decide they had to include it? We investigate the little details like Mark’s mention that the grass the people sat on was green, as well as important themes like Jesus’ intentional use of the traditional communion formula “taken, blessed, broken, and given.” What can we learn about how Jesus wants to use his disciples today?
